National Axon Taser Energy Weapon (TEW/CEW) Certification Overview
US Firearms Training Academy provides national Axon Taser Energy Weapon (TEW) certification — also known as Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) certification — for police officers, security professionals, investigators, protective agents, and approved civilians across the United States.
Students receive hands-on instruction with Axon’s complete TEW/CEW lineup, including:
- Taser X26P
- Taser X2
- Taser 7
- Taser T10 (Axon’s newest CEW platform)
This course teaches deployment fundamentals, spark testing, targeting, use-of-force standards, reporting, safety considerations, and scenario-based real-world decision making.
Our certification is accepted by many police departments, sheriff’s offices, private security companies, university police departments, and executive protection agencies nationwide.

Certification Requirements
Students must:

Live probe exposure is NOT required for private security or civilian certification.

States Where TEWs/CEWs Are Generally Legal (No Permit Required):
Arizona, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, New Mexico, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee.
States Allowing Civilian CEW/TEW With Restrictions:
California, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island.
States With Permit or Local Restrictions:
New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Hawaii, Delaware, Pennsylvania.
Students must verify their local laws before carrying a TEW/CEW.
