Blended CHP (Concealed Handgun Permit) and NRA First Steps Program

At USFTA’s premier training facility in Denver, Colorado, we’re proud to introduce a unique and comprehensive training program designed for those new to firearms or seeking to enhance their skills. Our Blended CHP and NRA First Steps program offers a pathway to responsible gun ownership, combining the foundational principles of the NRA Basic First Steps Course with the detailed insights of the Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit class. This comprehensive course includes practical range shooting and basic handgun qualification, catering to novice gun owners and shooters with little to no experience.

Classroom Location: All classroom education will occur at the USFTA location, situated at 2186 S Holly St Unit 101-A, Denver, Co 80222.

Range Location: Live firearms training will take place at Shoot Indoors in Denver or Aurora.

Prerequisites: None

Total Classroom Size: Limited to 8 Students for personalized attention and effective learning.

Total Time: 8 Hours

Handgun Rental: No rental fee.

Section 1: Laying the Groundwork with NRA First Steps

The journey begins with the NRA Basic First Steps Course, providing essential knowledge and skills for firearm safety and handling. Led by NRA Certified Instructors, this segment covers:

  • Fundamental Firearm Safety Rules
  • Firearm Parts and Operation
  • Ammunition Types and Safe Handling Practices
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship
  • Firearm Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Safe Storage and Transportation

Requirements for Section 1:

Participants are required to bring:

  • Personal handgun with a case
  • 100 rounds of ammunition
  • Range fee of $24.00
  • Eye and ear protection (Available at Range)
  • Preferred: Holster designed for the handgun and double mag carrier

Section 2: Applying Skills at the Range with Basic Handgun Qualification

Following classroom learning, participants engage in a practical range session, including a basic handgun qualification. This hands-on experience focuses on shooting accuracy, safe handling, and building confidence.

Section 3: Enhancing Skills with the Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit Course

Led by experts in firearm laws and lawful use of force, our Colorado CHP course offers in-depth knowledge and practical insights necessary for concealed carry. Highlights include:
